Mexican Open: PGA Tour Golf Bets

Vidanta Vallarta With 500 Fed Ex Cup Points on the Line

Sebastian Munoz, Columbian PGA Golfer

First, I know I need to apologize to you for not getting an article out to you about the tournament last week. We’re just two weeks away from betting on the second major of this season, the PGA Championship. But this week, we are betting on a Mexican west coast course in a brand-new PGA event called the Mexican Open. The players have to be excited about the challenge this course offers plus playing on a course they’ve never seen.

Vidanta Vallarta

This course is called the Vidanta Vallarta and it’s the seventh longest course at 7,456 yards, they will play this season. The area is said to have unpredictable high winds, so will the long drivers be able to air it out on this course, or will the winds conquer them? Greg Norman designed this course with over 100 different bunkers which are the second-most on the PGA tour. We’ve been told that the course also has sand-covered rough areas on it.

The greens are the twelfth largest ranked on the PGA Tour this season while the fairways are covered in Paspalum. There is water on 11 holes, so the approach is going to be critical for all golfers to have any success this week on this course.

Jon Rahm has to be the biggest star on the roster. There are a strong mix of proven champions and some budding young up and comers in this field. So many are saying to bet on Chris Kirk this week even though he is ice cold putting recently. I just don’t know if I can pull the trigger on that one. I think he’s a golfer to watch and bet after the cut if he’s looking better. You can tell that many are also looking at the dark horse candidate of Sebastian Munoz whose picture is featured. Look for him to start off strong.

I can’t bet on Patrick Reed either because I think he stumbles this week trying to overcome no knowledge of this course. So, who do I think we need to bet? Well, Jon Rahm of course with Tony Finau, Kevin Na, and Abraham Ancer. I think I’m taking Aaron Rai as my darkhorse. So, there are the five golfers that I’m betting on this week.
