New Japan Wrestling Coming Into Chicago on April 16th

Jon Moxley Promo Announces Wrestling at Windy City Riots

The New Japan lion is roaring into Chicago, Illinois on April 16th, 2022 at 7pm. They are trying to get the American audience to grow by hitting this Midwest hotbed. Chicago has been an AEW stronghold with rising crowds. New Japan Pro Wrestling is hoping to capitalize on this by bringing Jon Moxley with them. It will be called Windy City Riots.

New Japan in Chicago

They have been at the LA Coliseum with Resurgence and the San Jose Civic Center with Battle in the Valley with the NJPW Strong brand. Fans have loved these shows because of the Japanese and American big name surprises. It is going to be at the Odeum Expo Center in Chicago which surprised me that they though they couldn’t do the Sears Center. That’s the location most AEW fans know.

Jon Moxley Promo

The big thing yesterday was the Jon Moxley promo that was released. He said in the promo that he is the New Japan boogeyman. I love this line. Mox believes that no one can call themselves the best as long as he is lurking around. I also believe this is true. This is how Moxley has portrayed himself since leaving the WWE. He can strike at anytime and more often than not…does. Like going to Defy or GCW just to fill his time and stir things up.

Jon Moxley also mentioned the names of Shingo Takagi, Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi in this promo. Could we get any of these names in April? I would love a Moxley vs Okada match. I just hope this isn’t destroy by another variant of Covid-19. Last time we saw Moxley for NJPW was at the New Japan Strong Showdown in Philadelphia on October 17th. He was with his buddy, Eddie Kingston to take on Lance Archer and Minoru Suzuki. It was a good match with all of them going stiff with their chops and punches.
